The article analyzes the major contradictions and challenges to the implementation of the principles of the dual training of personnel for engineering. Reveals a basic contradiction between the dynamics of engineering development and traditional system of training of technicians of medium level in accordance with GEF. The conclusion about the desirability of making changes in the curriculum of a specialist in mechanical engineering.
